Moon - Turning The Tides (1977)

Moon were a band in the late 70's.  They toured constantly eventually supporting Joan Armatrading on her Love and Affection tour and the Average White Band when they returned to the UK after their initial success in the US.  They made two albums for Epic - This is the second. Noel McCalla, their lead singer went on to sing with various bands including GND who were mildly succesful in Italy.  He has a unique voice.  The band mixed rock sounds with brass, rock guitar and a strong set of original songs.  I remember seeing them a few times and they also did great covers of Steely Dan's "Night By Night"  and Van Morrison's "Moondance"  - always an entertaining gig.

  1. Saw Moon when they played at the "Nashville Rooms". Night By Night was one hell of a version of theirs. Saw them quite a bit in those days and still like Noel'a voice today.

  2. This is one of those albums that I thumb past and always have a warm fuzzy feeling about. Another fantastic British band that got over looked by the mainstream because they were too damn good. And then were buried under a pile of dung that was called punk & new wave. It is hard for me to get my head around the fact that this album is nearly 40 years old. What is even more amazing is that I can remember every word! My only regret is that I never got to see this band Live.
